Each time a Face Reader reads a face, the machine learns something. Machines and computers can actually learn on their own.

Encompassing several technologies that enable automatic learning in machines, Deep Learning uses algorithms, artificial intelligence and predictive analytics that mimic the human brain. Processors, circuits and microchips replace neurons and synapses to replicate neural networks. A machine Deep Learns by processing all information from the layers of algorithms from previous layers. A machine has to delve through a vast number of these processing layers (hence the term ‘Deep’) that contain millions of images and tons of data, before it reaches a level of accuracy. This takes only seconds on a computer programme. Applications that use Deep Learning include Face Recognition Security Systems, Medical Diagnostics, Fraud Detection, Self Driving Cars, Demographic Prediction, Military Defense and Language Processing.
