PROJECT START OFF
Hoga was involved in the project around the mid of Nov 2011 during this time the building was still under construction. We were involved in laying all the Cat6 network cables, Fiber optic cables, cable trays, trunking, GI pipes, Cisco phone cables, switches and routers, Samsung CCTV and cablings, TOA Public Addressing System, fireman intercom system, door access and Car Park Barrier. We experienced slight delays due to the last minute changes from the clients end. GI pipe layouts changed in the clean rooms, additional data and Fiber optic cabling along with the decision of the network router/switch around the premises. A few new processes were implemented which involved all the technicians also including the operations manager to attend a tool box meeting at 8.30 am daily in order to fill in the necessary paper documentation before starting work and also to do a safety check, safety briefing, check for the documentation regarding work permits, the proper use of safety gears, to check the mental fitness before starting work.
FIBER OPTIC & CAT6 NETWORK CABLES
Hoga is pleased to be working with Hoya on using Fiber optic cable extensively throughout the building for their network infrastructure. Cable trays were extensively used throughout the building manoeuvring their way around sprinkler pipes, columns, beams, ducting, ventilation pipes, pipes for central air conditioning system etc. The 8 core Fiber optic cables have to be carefully laid avoiding sharp bend and at times proved to be a challenge. Strict safety procedure were enforced on installers adhering to buddy system at all times.
We had our fair share of challenges especially after all the cables are laid and the request for additional cabling and new routing with all the ceiling board closed.
SAMSUNG CCTV SURVEILLANCE CAMERAS
Surveillance cameras have been strategically placed throughout the building and it’s perimeters for maximum security coverage. Different cameras were used for different areas depending on their different abilities to perform under different lighting conditions, surroundings and distance.
Challenges are always lurking nearby and in this case is no different. Cables have been previously laid and on standby awaiting cameras when we received a rude awakening that the cables were chopped off by other vendors. Luckily we managed to stop the culprits from causing further destruction depleting our time and cost. The length of cables are pretty long, re-laying from one end of the building to the other not to mention the effort taken.
PA AND FIREMAN INTERCOM SYSTEM
We have used different speakers at different locations, such as Ceiling speakers for indoors, Box speakers for stairwells and Horn speakers for outdoors, noisy environment and under floor boards in cleanrooms.
All cablings are concealed in GI pipes running extensively throughout the building like veins in our body. Fireman master alarm panel and PA system is located in the FCC room.
The PA system is linked with the fire alarm. A pre recorder message will be played throughout the building once the fire alarm has been triggered, whether it’s a fire drill or the real thing. Paging or Back Ground Music can be targeted at selected zones, 26 zones in all.
Cutting all the ceiling board to fit the speakers, testing and checking each and every speaker is working properly is a challenge especially in the cleanroom where they are well hidden and dressed up in space suit.
Proximity card reader was extensively used outside office entrance, meeting rooms, server room, FCC room, Side door entrance etc.
Using Proximity Card reader was easy and trouble free, same goes for installation and user training. The most challenging part for the installation team was to conceal the wiring on the glass door (customer’s request).
CAR PARK BARRIER SYSTEM
This system uses a tag for each car. As the scanner picks up the coded tag it lifts the barrier and the car passes through. Those without tag will have to report to the guard house before entering.
The most challenging task was to mould the concrete base to get just the right height for the metal post where the barrier arm sits and to get a long enough electrical cable installed by the disgruntled electrician earlier.
Installation of two projectors for 2nd floor meeting room and the two training rooms downstairs.
Most challenging part was to attach the suspended projector (from the ceiling) to achieve the image of the correct size to customers liking given the room size.
The user training for each category is conducted separately by our engineers and our suppliers to each department and respective users involved were handed training manuals.
